The hardest part for me was coming up with the idea and how to go about doing it. I had the kids watch a couple of movie trailers (such as Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves). Then we critiqued them...what was good, what did they notice, what needed to be in the movie trailer, etc. I then told them they had a few days to come up with the "idea"...that was the most difficult for them. So after three days and still no idea, I encouraged a quicker pace....I told them they would be filming the next day and that I wanted it put together by the end of the 2nd day. They came up with an idea and planned who would bring what the next day. I handed them the flip video, told them to use movie maker to put it all together, and shared a website with creative commons music and showed them how they could tell whether or not they could use it. I gave them a couple of hours to film and it took less than an hour to put together. And...this is what they came up with....besides the extra time for filming it was done during their hour for reading class.
